This and That

After 12+ years of being a blond, I decided that I needed a change. Here is my new hair color...reddish brown with blond highlights. I love it! :)
Here we are at the Rainiers game. Connor loved the mascot, Rhubarb. He wanted to take him home with us!

Tyler had his third baseball game this past Saturday. The weather was beautiful and our team won by 2 runs. The best part of the game, Tyler got the game ball. Way to go, Tyler!

All the players signed the ball. Connor is always right in the middle of everything. Silly guy!

Finally, Connor had his second hearing test this afternoon. The Flonase must be working because he got a perfect score. So glad there aren't any hearing concerns.

Connor's Speech Evaluation

Connor had his second speech evaluation this afternoon to determine whether or not he will qualify for speech through the school district. He met with the speech pathologist who will be working with him next year in the classroom.

I wasn't in the room when he was being tested, but I could hear Connor chatting away. He has no reservations being around people he doesn't know and she was cracking up at him. Apparently, he told her all about Star Wars...who Anakin Skywalker is, how he always had "a little bad in him," how he transformed into Darth Vadar, and that Luke Skywalker is his son. She thought it was great! :) Hey, whatever gets him talking so she could get an accurate evaluation.

We won't know the results until April 28, but she feels that he will qualify for the program. Yay! Saves us time and money not having to go through our medical, and as I have mentioned before, preschool will be free! The speech pathologist seems like a nice woman, so I am happy that she will be the one working with Connor next year. He seemed to like her, too! :)

She did ask if he has allergies because she also felt that could be contributing to the way he talks. He definitely does. The Flonase seems to be helping, but he did sound a little more stuffy today. Connor will be going back to the doctor next Tuesday so the pediatrician can re-check his hearing. The speech pathologist seems to agree with me that he probably doesn't have any hearing loss, but we do need to get his allergies and congestion under control.

Happy Easter!

I am way behind on our blog. The boys had Spring Break a couple weeks ago. We didn't do much because the weather wasn't the nicest. It did finally warm up last weekend and we were able to enjoy a few days of warm weather. To take advantage of it, I pulled out all the bushes and periwinkle in the front yard flower beds.

Our new Pagoda has inspired me to do an Asian theme, so with Laura's help, we headed over to Home Depot, Rosedale Gardens, Lowe's, and Clear Creek to pick out new flowers and shrubs. There might be a few more thing to buy as filler, but our main flower bed is pretty much done (we still need to buy something similar to bark to cover the dirt). I will most likely wait until I return from Europe to start on the flower bed next to the lamppost.

Tyler had his first baseball game last Wednesday. It was cold! Even though we lost, the boys were still getting used to hitting off the pitching machine rather than a tee, they still had fun. Tyler had his second game yesterday and we won! There was such an improvement in their hitting, and Tyler did awesome...he went 3 for 3!

We went to brunch this morning for Easter with my parents and Steve (Laura is in Chicago). The boys got a lot of fun things in their Easter baskets and A LOT of candy. They will be on a sugar high for the next week!

Connor has his second speech evaluation on Tuesday. This evaluation will determine whether or not he can get speech therapy in the classroom. We won't get the results until the 28th. I will be in Europe, but Jim will take Connor to the meeting.

Happy Easter! :)

Connor's 4 Year Well Check

We took Connor in for his four year well check this past Tuesday. We've had some concerns about his speech, hearing, and allergies. No fluid in Connor's ears, but they weren't able to get a good hearing test result from him. Could be his allergies and congestion, so the pediatrician put him on Flonase (he's done an awesome job taking it), and he needs to return in a couple weeks for a re-check.

When we had Connor's speech evaluated last week for his new preschool, they did mention some hearing loss in his left ear. They figured it was because of his cold and suggested that his pediatrician check it out when we went in for his well check. They also mentioned that he has a tight jaw which could be the reason he mumbles when he talks. Connor definitely has allergies, so along with the congestion he's had for as long as I can remember, I am sure it is affecting his hearing and speech. He probably doesn't hear sounds like we do.

Other than those issues, Connor is healthy and doing well. He's in the 90% for height and 96% for weight. He's going to be a big guy!
